Course Timeline:
Performance objectives Students should be able to: 1. State the periodic law. 2. Arrange common elements into groups and periods. 3. Identify at least two characteristic features of each of the families of these elements.
Performance objectives Students should be able to: 1. Explain the diagonal relationship between at least two elements in the periodic table. 2. Define ionization energy and state its trend across the period and down the group 3. Define electro affinity and state its trend across the period and down the group
Performance objectives Students should be able to: 1. Identify reactants and products of any reaction 2. Explain collision theory with respect to reaction time and reaction rate. 3. List and explain at least three factors that affect rate of chemical reactions
Performance objectives Students should be able to: 1. Explain exothermic and endothermic reactions with examples 2. State Le chatelier’s principle 3. List and explain two factors affecting chemical equilibrium.
Performance objectives Students should be able to: 1. Explain the concept mole, molar quantities, and molar concentrations 2. Solve calculations on no of moles and molar concentrations 3. Define the term molar volumes, molecular mass, and relative densities.
